Viswanathan Anand Retains World Championship!

Indian Chess Legend & Reigning World Champion Viswanathan Anand defeated Russian Challenger Vladimir Kramnik by a final score 6.5-4.5 in the 12 game match with one game to spare thus retained his title.

In the first half of the World Chess Championship Anand snatched a 3 point lead over Kramnik(including 2 wins with black pieces), which led the play into the most one sided match in chess history.Kramnik however gained some confidence & kept his hopes alive by winning the tenth game in 29 moves with white pieces. But the Indian prodigy who had white in penultimate match showed good presence of mind & chose to play e4, a change from 1.d4 which he played in games 1,3,5,7,9.He forced Kramnik to play Sicilian Najdorf which was hardly his speciality.

Having missed a win in game 9 & won game 10 it was do or die for Kramnik. The game was full of complications but in the end Anand prevailed,Kramnik accepted his draw offer.Anand completely outprepared & outplayed Kramnik. This erases the notion that Kramnik is a great match player, Anand did what Kasparov,Leko & Topalov couldn't do.
